Something Different

The Brief

To think outside the square and design something different to enhance the front of the house and create an inviting private sitting area on the north side of the home for the owners to enjoy a cup of tea in the winter sun.

Our Solution

The house is on a large block of land so we wanted to maintain an open feel to enhance the space. Grass trees were used as the feature plants to compliment the exiting garden, with the under planting selected to achieve a mature height of around half a metre. An interesting sandstone pathway, broken by concrete sleeper steppers invites you around to the deck area. The deck incorporates a curved edge which in turn leads you into the house.

Features

  • Black grass tree trunks contrast sharply with the light coloured sandstone pathway
  • Concrete sleepers set at random heights and angles creating a quirky feel
  • Distinctly different levels of planting once the garden is established
  • Curved deck constructed from composite timber for durability and low maintenance requirements
